Uploading From Onedrive Mobile App To Sharepoint

OneDrive has recently blog post on the Tech Community website which is titled ‘Top 5 benefits of OneDive mobile app”. I am using SharePoint and like to be that way. This post got my interest and I was quick to read it. I have a mobile device that uses OneDrive so I wanted to upload my data from OneDrive mobile app to SharePoint. I was able to do that successfully. That post was about how SharePoint and OneDrive interact with each other and I did find it helpful. I am a SharePoint person so want all my data on the SharePoint platform. Being able to transfer my mobile data through a mobile app was more than welcome and comforting from my side.

SharePoint has got me addicted to itself for the workflow and other office features within it. Microsoft Office 365 along with SharePoint are the best combo out there. I have always been using the Office app for a long. These apps include MS word, MS Excel, PowerPoint etc. they are all compatible with SharePoint which makes it very easy to work with a flow without first getting to know new things and then becoming used to them.

General Behaviour

The upload is easy with no tricky things in it. There will be both optional and required columns appearing in it while uploading and transferring metadata. In case you do not fill out a column It will not stop the process of uploading the metadata from your mobile device to SharePoint.

Even if you rename a column or add a new column, it can be done without closing or restarting the mobile app. But, yes, the change will not show up immediately and it will be picked up by the app when you next time opens the Save As screen.

There are column types in SharePoint and they an important. I had to check If the column types I use in the SharePoint are available for tagging in the mobile app, and guess what? They were there. The columns sometimes mix up with each other. There are allowed columns and disallowed columns and when they mix up, the allowed column types will appear and the disallowed columns will not appear, they will simply disappear from the view. When you allow certain column types then you are actually selecting that which columns you want to see.

Both of them look similar in the Mobile app

Number

• Don’t put in the numerical values in decimal points as it is unable to recognize the decimal position.
• Don’t put some specified value as it will only show the default value

The Conclusion

Its been quite a while now that I am using OneDrive mobile app for different purposes most common of which is scanning receipts. It’s easy to organize data as well as it saves time.

On a few of my libraries, I’m planning on switching some of the metadata to choice (currently a lookup) for the time being so I can leverage this tool.

It is a great tool and interaction between OneDrive and SharePoint to make it easy to upload from the mobile app directly to SharePoint online and ARC is offering his best SharePoint real estate solutions. I have a favourite in the shape of SharePoint but I also use OneDrive on my mobile, with the introduction of this feature it is easy for me to get all my data in one place from within the app.
